1,000 HOUR SUMMER LABORER
Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative currently has an opening for a Summer Laborer to assist our line crews during the summer construction season. This position provides an opportunity to shadow and work with crews to gain hands-on experience with various construction practices in maintenance and repair. This position is considered an entry-level, hourly position with a limited appointment of up to 1000 hours.
This summer position will provide opportunity to:
- develop a working knowledge of utility practices and Cooperative Services.
- learn skills in design, planning and construction of distribution power lines.
- assist in the construction, installation, and maintenance of distribution lines within our system.
- develop a working knowledge of line sections, protection devices, operations, and apparatuses.
- acquire knowledge to successfully identify energized voltages and work on equipment, conforming with training and safe work practices.
- gain experience working around various equipment and structures in varying weather conditions and uneven terrain.
Qualified candidates are high school graduates who are currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of an applicable technical or degree program. The laborer position does not constitute a full-time position.
